Bird Watching & Environmental
Studies
The centre is ideally suited for
bird watching and the study of plant and animal life which
abounds in the area. The Norfolk Broads include estuary,
shoreline, salt marsh and flooded meadow habitats along
the east coast migration route and encompasses 25% of
the Nation's wetland habitat. There is a real chance of
a rare sighting and more importantly, when all the summer
birds have gone, winter time offers some of the best opportunities
to see birds especially wildfowl. Within a short drive
there are many RSPB and Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserves
and visitors are recommended to bring binoculars. For
the more inquisitive there are many places where 'pond
dipping' can be carried out as well as finding out how
the Broads were formed, maintained and much more. The
Centre is ideally situated for groups to work on various
aspects of the National Curriculum. |
